Nun is for Noflim

The gemara in Brachos on 4b says that Dovid Hamelech left nun out of Ashrei because it represents nefilas "sonei yisrael" and it quotes a pasuk to prove it. Someone asked me this morning why doesn't nun also represent nosein lechem l'kol basar from hallel hagadol? Just because there's one pasuk that starts with nofeil means that we can't have a "good" nun in ashrei? There are no other bad pesukim in tanach that start with different letters?

The guy on the Dial a daf on the phone in ISrael had an interesting answer for this question. He said obviously, Dovid Hamelelch didn't just write Tehillim from his own creative writing classes in Dayton or bridgeport. He had some sort of divine intervention in his writings. And when he got to the Nun in Ashrei, the pasuk that was supposd to be there was nefilas sonei yisrael. And therefore, he left it out. It wasn't exactly his choice which psukim to put there. (a little frum huh?)
